Sun Conures
aratinga solstitialis
Size: about 12 inches long
Color: yellow, orange, red, green, navy blue
Origin: Central and Northeastern South American coast
Personality: Our suns provide us with hours of entertainment. They are active, intellilgent, beautiful, little acrobats. They are better at alerting us to danger (as they perceive it) than our dogs. In fact, they are louder than the dogs.
Talking ability: Some can talk.
Cage requirements: minimum 20 x 20 x 24 high. Conures enjoy sleeping in a nest box, or just escaping for a little privacy.
Food requirements: As with all parrots, they should be fed a well rounded diet. Ours eat a good quality seed/ pelleted diet, supplemented with whatever fruits and veggies they will eat. They love peanuts, but don't overdue the fatty foods if your birds are not very active.
