Green Cheeked Conures

Pyrrhura molinae

Size: about 10 inches long

Color: green body, blue flight feathers, red/maroon tail feathers and grayish feathers on the chest and neck area that have scalloped edges.

Origin: Bolivia

Personality: Excellent bird for nearly anyone. One of the smaller conures with a sweet personality. Good with children. The perfect pocket parrot!

Talking ability: Some can be taught a few words.

Cage requirements: minimum 18 x 18 x 22 high. A large cockatiel cage works well. Conures enjoy sleeping in a nest box, or just escaping for a little privacy.

Food requirements: As with all parrots, they should be fed a well rounded diet. Ours eat a good quality seed/ pelleted diet, supplemented with whatever fruits and veggies they will eat. They love peanuts, but don't overdue the fatty foods if your birds are not very active.

Mutations: Cinnamon, yellow-sided, pineapple, turquiose, as well as splits.
